Are you an IB student aiming to stand out in university applications through a strong Extended Essay (EE) and impressive predicted grades?

Join this insightful panel discussion with renowned IB experts as they break down EE research, subject-specific strategies, and the real factors behind strong predicted grades.

Focus Area: The Extended Essay (EE) – Your Academic Differentiator

The Extended Essay is a powerful opportunity to showcase independent research, subject mastery, and academic writing—qualities universities value highly.

Understanding the new Extended Essay (EE) expectations is key to success under the updated IB guidance. The EE has undergone important changes, with examiners now placing greater emphasis on focused research questions, conceptual understanding, and sustained critical thinking rather than descriptive work. High-scoring EEs clearly showcase independent research, reflection, and analytical depth, highlighting the EE’s unique value in the Diploma Programme as the culmination of a student’s highest level of learning, often strengthened through thoughtful interdisciplinary connections.

EE Subject Deep Dives

The Sciences deep dive focuses on selecting focused, feasible, and data-driven research questions, designing strong experiments, handling data correctly, and avoiding common mistakes that limit scores.

The Mathematics deep dive explains what makes an EE analytical rather than descriptive, how to balance mathematical theory with personal engagement, and how to choose topics that align well with HL or SL expectations.

The optional Economics deep dive covers crafting real-world, researchable questions, using data and diagrams effectively, and aligning analysis with IB assessment criteria for higher marks.

Predicted Grades: What Really Matters for a successful essay

Learn why predicted grades must be built consistently from the start, how EE quality and academic discipline influence teacher predictions, and how to communicate academic progress effectively for competitive university admissions.
