High School Accelerator: English, Research & Information Literacy

Written Communication and Presentation | Interpretation and Analysis | Information Management

Course Overview

Given today’s fast-evolving landscape of language and information, we offer two engaging courses designed to strengthen students’ abilities in English expression and information literacy: HSA English, and HSA Research & Information Literacy. As students move through high school and anticipate more essays, research papers and written assessments, these courses are designed to enhance their confidence and ability in both written and oral communication, while also equipping them with the tools to navigate today’s vast and complex ‘information superhighway’.

HSA English

Through the reading and analysis of a range of texts, students will learn to express their ideas with coherence, creativity, and academic integrity. This course focuses on critical reading and writing skills, with attention to vocabulary, grammar, form, structure, and style. Students will engage in both creative and academic writing, as well as oral presentations, to build confidence and clarity in communication.

HSA Research & Information Literacy

In an age where AI-generated content is increasingly prevalent, this course teaches students to think critically about the credibility and relevance of data. It develops essential research skills, including how to identify, collect, and analyze trustworthy sources with proper citation and academic integrity. Students will also explore how to engage with diverse perspectives and navigate an increasingly digitised world responsibly and effectively.
