Pre-IB Summer Courses

Immersive summer courses designed to give you a headstart for IBDP

Course Overview

The IBDP is a rigorous pre-university programme that demands a superior skill set, strong grasp of concepts and a unique IB mindset based on critical thinking and global perspectives. Our flagship Pre-IB courses help students from both IB and non-IB board streams to move seamlessly into IBDP by bridging the gap between different modes of teaching. They were specially designed by our founder Yogesh Dhingra to help students transition to IBDP from diverse curricula (IGCSE, MYP, CBSE, or other National or International boards) and provide them with a head start in their IBDP education.

Grade 11 is a crucial year for college admissions as students undergo continuous assessments and their results are used to determine their predicted grades, which are submitted with university applications at the start of Grade 12. Pre-IB courses utilise the summer months before Grade 11 to impart and consolidate learning in a relaxed, stress-free manner so that students entering the IB program have the knowledge, skills and mindset to excel in Grade 11 and earn strong predicted grades.

Our experienced faculty consists of former IB teachers, examiners and workshop leaders who are equipped to teach students from diverse curricula. Each course includes student advisory sessions to determine the best subject pathways based on a detailed needs analysis, as well as full coverage of the IBDP’s first semester syllabus. By the end of the summer, students are fully prepared for the first semester, understand IB assessment patterns and have the self-assurance to thrive in Grade 11 and confidently navigate their way to top-tier universities.

FAQs

What do you mean by Pre-IB?
Pre-IB refers to prep courses taken after Grade 10 but before entering Grade 11. These courses bridge the gap between a student’s previous learning, no matter the curriculum, and the IBDP. In short, it’s a head start for success in the IBDP.

How do Pre-IB Courses help?
Pre-IB courses help students catch up on any required learning and master the first term’s syllabus. Students are introduced to the IB’s specific and rigorous methods and practices, which helps regardless of whether you have done MYP or another curriculum like IGCSEs, A Levels, ICSE, CBSE etc. Students are also introduced to IB-specific technology, such as Logger Pro and GDC strategies.

Can Pre-IB courses help with IB subject choice selection?
If students are still deciding between subject groups (or which HL and SL options are appropriate), Pre-IB courses can give you some clarity by offering you a glimpse into the expectations and requirements of the subject.

What happens after the Pre-IB course?
If you find the Pre-IB courses helpful and want to take your IB preparation to the next level for a  top scoring IBDP result CourseLeap also offers full time IB tutoring as well as Mid-IB Courses, IB Exam Prep Courses, Guidance in Internal Assessments, TOK and Extended Essay.

Can you join if you have a background in a different curriculum?
Students from any curriculum, ICSE, IGCSE, CBSE, MYP, American Core or other national/international boards,  can benefit. Even students who have studied Additional Math or similar advanced subjects gain from the IB-specific approach, particularly in HL courses.

What skills will students learn during the Pre-IB courses?
The aim of the course is for students to bridge learning differences, improve problem solving and critical thinking skills, learn IB command terms, understand IB exam assessment expectations and have a strong foundation for the first term syllabus in their respective IB schools. Students will also acquire knowledge of required work ethics, such as effective note taking, systemized organisational thinking, and content consolidation.
