Course Concept
The American Math Competition (AMC) is the first of a series of examinations in high school mathematics for the USA that determines each country’s best students and serves as the first stage of the International Mathematics Olympiad. Conducted by the Mathematical Association of America (MAA), this exam is taken by thousands of students worldwide and is a test of students’ critical thinking, problem-solving and computational skills by providing a gateway to students wishing to pursue STEM courses in future.
The course follows a module-based approach that will cover each topic area included in this exam and introduce students to the relevant theory, practice problems, homework, and regular mock tests. It will involve covering nuanced and exam-specific problem-solving strategies and methods to increase speed and accuracy with teaching as well as testing being conducted simultaneously in the form of rigorous practice past test papers followed by doubt sessions.
Our AMC courses are planned to benefit students greatly and our students have secured laurels every year by attaining the top percentiles globally. The transferable problem-solving skills learnt in this course would provide a challenging course in mathematics across curricula as well as help them take the University of Waterloo’s Centre for Education in Mathematics and Computing (CEMC) exams. Getting an honorary distinction at level 1 or 2 in AMC, along with other international Math examinations is highly acknowledged by university admissions officers.
