Course Overview

Math is not just about applying formulas—it is an art! This course is designed to inspire and teach you the art of problem solving.

CourseLeap’s Art of Problem Solving (AoP) teaches you how to understand a given problem and recognize the underlying patterns. You will learn how to break it down into smaller parts and apply logical and critical thinking to each, thereby building on your reasoning and proof building skills.

The course is designed for motivated students in Grades 6-9 and aims to rigorously deepen and extend mathematical understanding of foundational concepts. Through a variety of proofs and problems, students can develop their ability to manipulate variables and discover patterns or approaches that lead to new insights. AoP will fortify your level of understanding and focus on a holistic upgrade in math reasoning skills, thereby laying a strong foundation for school math and international math competitions such as  International Math Olympiads. 

*This course is intended for students of national and international boards from Grade 6 to 9 who are motivated and want to develop a deeper level of understanding and application of math.

The Art of Problem Solving course was my foundation for Maths competitions such as the AMC. It involves more thinking about the problem you are going to solve, how you will solve it, and more importantly why it is solved in a particular way. In school, we are just given a formula and told that it is correct. It provided me with the skills I needed to take the AMC course as an eighth grader. Overall, it was a really interesting course and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to go on to do well in Math competitions.
