Public Speaking

This course, designed to enhance students’ public speaking skills, is designed to focus on content, structure and delivery of effective speeches and presentations. 

Behind every great speech is a solid piece of writing. How can you engage your audience with what you say, using good examples and a clear structure. However confident you are on stage, if the content is below par, the impact will not be made. The first half of the course is therefore designed in a way which directly complements what you might learn in English. By the end of this session, you will be ready to go with absolute confidence in what you’re going to say.

We then move on to look at the performance aspects of public speaking, for example body language, voice, gesture, audience engagement and confidence. Grabbing the attention of the audience the moment you enter the room, and holding it, is essential in putting your message across. In the same way that a confident speech with poor content will go nowhere, it’s even more true that a brilliant speech delivered badly will leave an audience cold. So being able to deliver a presentation with strength, poise and confidence is crucial. 

This course will give you the skills needed to create, edit and deliver a great presentation or speech, whether you’re already a confident speaker wishing to add some sparkle and polish, or whether you’re someone who can’t move for fear for days before the speech! Either way, if you want to speak well in public, then this is the course for you.
