In the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP), students pursue a total of six subjects, three at HL and SL respectively, and are graded on a scale of 1-7, allowing a maximum score of 42 points apart from three bonus points awarded for the Extended Essay (EE) and Theory of Knowledge (TOK). The former is an academic research paper wholly drafted by the student on any topic area within a subject of their choice offered by the IB, while the latter is a core part of the programme which encourages students to investigate the nature of knowledge and question how it is acquired – both these components are mandatory. The IB also mandates Creativity, Activity and Service (CAS), an extracurricular core component that aims to encourage artistic tendencies, physical development and community engagement to further aid the evolution of each student.
